Amy has been practicing Bikram Yoga since June 1999 in San Francisco, and received her Instructor Certification in June 2000 in Los Angeles from Bikram Choudhury. Amy founded and owned two successful Bikram Yoga studios on the Central Coast from December 2000 until December 2004 until she moved to paradise- North Fork! As paradise and a Fresno Bikram studio was a natural combination, she founded Blue Moon Yoga in Autumn 2006, where Amy's enthusiasm and dedication for sharing the bountiful yoga lifestyle through yoga instruction and practice is expressed.

Amy is also a Registered Dental Hygienist since 1985, and her career highlights are those centered around education, philanthropy and especially working with low socioeconomic communities and disadvantaged individuals. Health-centered, Amy has a strong athletic background since childhood, excelling in running, swimming and weight-lifting, with an emphasis on anatomy/physiology, nutrition and natural remedies. Additionally, Amy has traveled extensively around the world through work, sport and family, enhancing her yoga instruction, giving it a fun, rich global flair.

Amy discovered Bikram Yoga when she became totally disabled from Dental Hygiene due to cumulative work related injuries in May 1999. Losing her ability to practice and being forced into full time rehabilitation, Bikram Yoga was recommended as adjunctive therapy by her physical therapist. Being bed-ridden and suffering from chronic pain and immobility, the heat and stretching was a welcome, albeit tough, relief. Amy is proof that the yoga works, and enjoys a full recovery that she says must be maintained with a regular Bikram Yoga Practice.

After 11 months of daily practice, Amy was given permission to enroll in the Bikram Yoga Instructor 9-week Certification Course. Amy brings to her teaching an understanding and compassion of the physical and emotional struggles from those with limitations in yoga class. At the same time, she stresses that we get back from our yoga practice what we put into it. That means, Amy says, "persistence, dedication, perseverance, patience and a positive attitude".

Hatha Yoga is a science and an art combined. There is rigor and objectivity in its method. There is beauty and inspiration in its expression. --Godfrey Devereux
